Day 2 · Wed 22 Apr · Taghazout & surf 🌊
Morning Drive to Taghazout (~30 min north). Group surf lesson at Munga Guesthouse or Surf Berbère — all beginners, ~350-500 MAD/pp (£28-40) incl board+wetsuit.
Afternoon Lunch at Munga café or beachfront Berber spot at Banana Beach. Laid-back members chill at Anchor Point cliffs.
Evening Back to Agadir. Maghrib. Easy dinner near stay. Dessert at Audrey Artisan Glacier.
Day 3 · Thu 23 Apr · Paradise Valley + Souk El Had
MorningSplurge-worthy Private 4×4 day to Paradise Valley (~800-1,500 MAD / £64-120 split 5 ways). Hike pools, swim. Skip group tours — they rush you.
Afternoon Tagine lunch at a roadside Berber kitchen on the way back. Optional argan cooperative stop (real one, not commission shop).
Evening Souk El Had ~17:00 (post-peak). Hire a local guide for first hour ~150 MAD (£12) to orient (Gate 9 spices, 1-4 crafts), then wander free. Dinner.

AfternoonBlock 12:30-14:00 Jumu'ah at Mosquée Mohammed V. Late lunch at the fishing port grills (pick fish, they cook it — NOT marina).
Evening Split: adrenaline group → quad + sandboarding at Tamri dunes (~500-700 MAD/pp / £40-56). Laid-back group → Hammam Najah (5 min walk, ~100 MAD / £8 with full scrub). Reunite for splurge dinner: private Berber chef at the Airbnb (Take a Chef / Tazwit Tours).
Day 5 · Sat 25 Apr · Departure
Morning Pack night before. Quick breakfast at stay. Leave Talborjt by 08:00 (Fajr first), arrive AGA by 08:30 — bag drop closes 09:50, gate closes 10:15. Return RK6701 · 10:30 → 14:35 LBA.
☀️ Weather (typical late April)
Days 22-25°C, sunny, light breeze · Evenings 15-17°C (bring a light jacket)
Sea ~17-18°C — refreshing not warm; surf wetsuit recommended at Taghazout
Sunrise ~06:50 · Sunset ~19:30 (Maghrib window)
Check 5-day forecast on Sun 19 Apr before final packing
👥 Group split logistics
Lead driver: nominate one 25+ for the rental (avoids under-25 surcharge x2)
Prayer-time anchor: one person tracks Dhuhr/Asr/Maghrib so the day doesn't drift past windows
Cash holder: one person carries the group float for taxis/tips, others settle at end of day
Day 4 split: agree quad-bike vs hammam group at breakfast — book quad in advance (Tamri pickup ~16:00)
WhatsApp group: share live location when split, agree reunion time + spot
🍽️ Local Moroccan Restaurants
All halal-default. Walkable picks first, short-drive picks below.
Talborjt district · Spanish-style seafood (squid, octopus Gallega, cazuela de mariscos)
Hidden gem in our actual neighbourhood. Seafood-only menu (no pork) · no alcohol mentioned in any review. Great price-to-quality, young friendly team. Fills the "good seafood without going to the marina" gap.
Central Agadir · Moroccan / Mediterranean · Family-run 40+ years
Long-running family kitchen. Reviewers consistently note "authentic", "passion not profit", reasonable prices. No alcohol on menu — pure Moroccan local-style.
Confirm halal & no-alcohol explicitly when booking.
❌ Removed: Riad Villa Blanche — confirmed via official site to operate a full bar with Moroccan/French/Italian/Spanish wines, cocktails and spirits served alongside meals. Not halal-friendly. Use Take a Chef (private at-home Moroccan spread) as the splurge alternative.
Take a Chef · Private Berber chef at the Airbnb Halal ✓⭐ 4.38 / 4.76 menu
Vetted private chefs cook full Moroccan spread (tagine, couscous, salads, dessert, mint tea) at your rental. Submit halal request, receive 2-3 chef proposals in 24-48hr.
Hike between natural pools, swim. Skip group tours (rushed — "only 15 min in valley"). Private 4×4 fits all 5. Go AM for cool + empty pools. Combine with Berber lunch in a village home.
Munga Guesthouse Surf School · Taghazout Splurge-worthy
Taghazout, ~30 min north · Half-day group lesson 350-500 MAD/pp (£28-40)
Caps groups at 4 (good for adrenaline subset). Board + wetsuit + transport included. April waves are beginner-friendly. "Best day of my Morocco trip" — recurring blog quote.
~30-40 min north · 500-700 MAD/pp (£40-56) · 2 hrs
Real dunes, not the city beach. Quads 1-up or 2-up — works for the whole group. Book TripAdvisor-rated operator (Sun & Sand Quad, Agadir Quad Bike) — NOT beachfront touts. Confirm duration in writing.
Berber cooking class · Aourir / Tamraght Splurge-worthy
~15 min north · 400-600 MAD/pp (£32-48) · 3-4 hrs
Shop the souk, cook tagine + bread + mint tea, eat together. 5 is the sweet spot for a private booking — feels like a dinner party. Berber Chef class (Aourir) and Cooking Class with Ilham (Tamraght) both 98%+ recommend.
Tighanimine Women's Argan Cooperative World's first Fairtrade-certified argan
Tighanimine village · ~15 km / 25 min from Talborjt · Free / small donation · Half-day with driver
The real women's cooperative (NOT the commission-shop "argan stops" tour buses use). 50 Berber women, Fairtrade-certified since 2011, working argan-oil factory. They genuinely welcome visitors — see the cracking, kneading, filtration. Buy oil/soap directly = money to the women.
Halal verified: women's cooperative, no food/drink concerns.
Souss-Massa National Park · Bird-watching Last refuge of Northern Bald Ibis
~52 km south of Agadir · ~40 min drive · Half-day (4 hr) or full-day (7-9 hr) tour with guide
One of North Africa's best birdwatching sites and the world's most important wild population of the critically endangered Northern Bald Ibis. April = peak spring-migration diversity. Sidi R'bat cliffs are the prime viewing spot. Easy half-day with private guide + 4×4.
Halal verified: outdoor nature tour, no food/drink concerns.
Anza, ~10 km north · ~20 min drive · Free · Best at LOW TIDE
323 authenticated dinosaur footprints along a 300m cliff section. Discovered by locals in 2017 — theropods + flying pterosaurs from the Upper Cretaceous. Easy stop on the way to/from Taghazout. Check tide times — only visible at low tide. Local guide ~50-100 MAD adds context.
Halal verified: outdoor archaeological site, no food/drink concerns.
Group tours rush you. Private = real time at pools.
Surf lesson Munga / Surf Berbère
350-500 MAD/pp (£28-40)
Beginner-friendly waves in April, board+wetsuit incl.
Quad + sandboarding Tamri
500-700 MAD/pp (£40-56)
Real dunes, "best thing we did in Agadir".
Berber cooking class
400-600 MAD/pp (£32-48)
5 = perfect private group size. Halal default.
Souk El Had with 1hr guide
150 MAD (£12)
Saves you hours of "where the hell is the spice gate".
❌ Skip / Tourist Traps
Marina & beachfront restaurants — "pretty poor quality" is the consistent verdict. Eat one street back instead.
Sunset catamaran cruise from marina — "wasn't actually a catamaran", poor food, dolphins-or-bust. Watch sunset from Oufella ruins instead (free + better view).
Deep-sea fishing half-day — high regret rate. Boats anchor 25 min out, fish for bream not game. Bills inflate.
Camel rides on city beach — pushy vendors, rubbish-dump routes, animal welfare issues. Do Tamri dunes instead.
Hotel spa massages — 2-3× the price of Itrane for inferior treatment.
Hotel-organised coach excursions with "argan cooperative" + "Berber pharmacy" stops — commission-driven shopping stops dressed as cultural visits.
Carpet shop "factory tours" — same playbook as Marrakech: hours of mint tea, hard sell.
Imouzzer waterfalls day trip — 2hr drive AND waterfalls are dry in April (Nov-Jan only).
Crocoparc — well-rated but family/kids leaning. Skip for an adults group.
🚗 Car Rental
5 adults = need a 5-7 seater. Pick up at AGA airport on arrival (faster than city centre).

Vehicle pick
5 adults + day-trip luggage → Dacia Duster (5-seat SUV) for Paradise Valley track, OR Dacia Lodgy / Dokker 7-seater for more comfort on Légzira/Taroudant days. Avoid sub-compact "5-seaters" — 3 adults in the back for 2.5h is misery.
Watch out for (recurring scams)
Debit-card trap: they "reject" your credit card and force debit, voiding deposit protection. Use a real Visa/Mastercard credit card.
Deposit hold: 8,000-15,000 MAD / £640-1,200. Card limit must cover it.
Fake damage on return: 360° video at pickup AND return, timestamp, roof + underside + alloys + windscreen. Mark every existing scratch on the contract.
Fuel "full-to-full" only. Refuse "prepaid full" — never refunded.
Insurance upsell: basic CDW included but excess is huge. Buy standalone excess cover from iCarHireInsurance / RentalCover.com (~£3-5/day) instead of desk's £15-25/day SCDW.
Cleaning fee if returned with sand — quick rinse before drop-off (Taghazout dust trigger).
Under-25 surcharge ~€10/day. Lead driver should be 25+.
Documents required
UK photocard licence + IDP (1949 convention, £5.50 from PayPoint) + passport. IDP not always asked at counter but required by Moroccan police and for insurance validity in an accident. Get one — non-negotiable.
Talborjt parking & city driving
Street parking is informal. A gardien in hi-vis will "watch" the car — 5-10 MAD (£0.40-0.80) daytime, 20 MAD (£1.60) overnight (cash, expected, not optional). Paid lots at Marina or Founty ~30 MAD/night (£2.40) for secure overnight. Driving in Agadir is fine — wide boulevards, lanes respected. N1 to Taghazout easy. Paradise Valley last 5 km is narrow switchbacks, go slow.
Booking move: email Medloc + get a Sixt/Hertz quote via DiscoverCars as backup. Book the cheaper with free cancellation, hold both until ~72h out, drop one.
